Who's Who
Parish in Vacancy
The Revd Joy Cousans retired on 1st June after nine years at St. Mary's. We are now in an interregnum, which is the period between one vicar leaving and the next being appointed.
During this time we continue as normal, with services and day‑to‑day life supported by the churchwarden and PCC, our retired and visiting clergy, other ministers, our pastoral team and the Diocese of St Albans, until a new vicar is in post.

Catherine Hayden - Churchwarden
Catherine Hayden has been member of St Mary's church since 1985. She lives in Edlesborough and is married to Martin. They have three grown-up children who were all baptised at St Mary's and who participated variously in the life of the church as choristers and servers. She retired from teaching at Edlesborough School in 2010 and is now a Foundation Governor of Dagnall Church of England School.
Having been a member of the PCC for more than 20 years, Catherine was elected churchwarden in April 2011.
Revd Chris Lane - Assistant Priest
Hi there! Fliss & I retired to Edlesborough after forty years in the Ministry. We’ve been married for over fifty years, have four children, seven grandchildren and a dog called Monty. Thank you Lord!
Revd John Russell - Assistant Priest
I've been married to Karen for 47 years and have recently moved to Edlesborough. We are fortunate enough to have three wonderful children and 6 grandchildren, ( with another on the way!).
I was ordained deacon in 1995 and priested in 1996, a Curate at Newport Pagnell, Vicar of Wing and later Team Rector of Berkhamsted with responsibility for Great Gaddesden, Little Gaddesden and Nettleden.
I continue to be Chaplain at Ashridge House.
We have a 3 year old infamous Golden Retriever 'FishPie' Nelson. I enjoy walking, reading, gardening and cars.
Gordon Gray - Lay Reader
Licensed as a Reader in March 2002, Gordon is married to Christine, and is retired from his business development role for a major defence contractor.
His various church related projects include leading worship at St Mary's, All Saints, Dagnall and other North Chilterns Group churches, and leading confirmation classes for young people. He runs the popular Music@StMary's concert series, and every year sets the challenging Christmas Puzzle, which raises money for the church and many other good causes.
Gordon has recently decided to retire as Reader - see more in our News section.
