The Nave

North Side of the Nave of St Marys Eaton BrayWe now stand in the middle of the church. On either side a line of pillars supports the pointed arches which are typical of the Gothic style of architecture, which dominated the later Middle Ages from the late 1100s to the Renaissance of the 16th century.

 

 

South Side of the Nave of St Marys Eaton BrayIn England the first phase of Gothic architecture is generally called the Early English style, represented by our two arcades, which are noticeably different.
