Fair Trade
The Fair Trade stall at St Mary’s started in November 2000. We now run it on the second Sunday of the month after the 10am Eucharist. It is run by young people in the congregation, selling foods, crafts and cards, which we buy from the Fair Deal World Shop in Hitchin Road, Luton.
The Fair Deal World Shop sells Traidcraft and Tear Fund products and sources many other foods, crafts and stationery from other Fair Trade producers.
For the last three years, during Fair Trade Fortnight, we have organised a Fair Trade Breakfast and Coffee Morning which has been great fun.
Fair Trade Parish
St Mary's is now registered as a Fair Trade parish so we will use Fair Trade tea and coffee etc at all our metings.
Fair Trade Breakfast and Coffee Morning
During Fair Trade Fortnight, GIFT helped to run a Fair Trade Breakfast and Coffee Morning on 12th March.
We had a most successful morning, raising £85 for the Fair Trade Foundation and selling £130 worth of Fairly Traded goods. 60 people attended, including John Bercow the MP for Buckingham and Avril Davis, our County Councillor who was supporting the 'Making a Commitment' campaign on road safety.
This is the fourth year that we have organised a Fair Trade Breakfast and the numbers attending have grown every year.
Hope to see you there next year!
