Virtual Tour of St Mary's Church, Eaton Bray - Pages 29-30

The east window (by Heaton, Butler and Bayne of London) was given in 1936 by Annie Wallace to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of King George V and Queen Mary.

East Window of St Marys Eaton Bray

The Wallace family came to the village in 1886, and opened a nursery which became a significant source of employment in the village, with acres of fields being covered with glasshouses. The Wallaces were great benefactors of the village and the church.

On the south side of the chancel, a low sill to the window provides the sedilia (seats for the clergy during divine service), and an angle piscina (basin for washing the sacred vessels) of the late 13th century. Compared with the high quality of the carving in the nave, the piscina is of remarkably crude design and construction.
